Meldrum gets GAF Ready on Time...
Meldrum Construction Services celebrated this week, when a much anticipated shop that the team had pulled out all the stops for, opened ahead of schedule.
The owners of Gaf were keen to open as quickly as possible in response to an early Christmas rush in Gosforth.
Gaf already operates an outlet in Tynemouth and is now officially open in the Gosforth Shopping Centre (with an entrance on Gosforth High Street). The store offers shoppers a great choice of clothes, jewellery and quirky gifts.
Meldrum was only approached four weeks ago, and understanding the sensitivity of the retail world in the run up to the festive season prioritised the job, completing a total refit of the 1,000 square foot retail space in record time.
Pippa Gregg, who owns the shop with partner Eddie Holden, said:
“Opening the second shop was a challenge we were keen to take on and when we found the old bridal shop was up for grabs we knew it was the ideal spot. We did worry though that the timing was wrong and that we would miss the Christmas rush.”
Meldrum, however, speedily turned around the £40,000 refit which includes stylish wooden floors, practical and well laid out display cabinets and rails, spacious changing rooms and beautiful touches such as stunning light fittings, all creating an ambience of welcoming luxury that makes you want to browse.
Harry Robinson is a site manager for Meldrum and he headed up the transformation:
“Meldrum has the philosophy that the customer’s needs and timescales are of utmost importance. Each client is treated on its own merit, despite value of the contract, and therefore we reacted to the critical timescales that would make Gaf in Gosforth a success for the client.”
Pippa and Eddie intend to extend the company further with other outlets across the region. Eddie said:
“We head about Meldrum through word of mouth and their reputation preceded them. We are confident we could not have opened so quickly had it not been for them – we trusted them to do their job, which freed us up to make sure the stock and other details were all in place. We do intend to grow our business and when we do Meldrum will be our first port of call for any shop fitting or construction work necessary.”
Meldrum is based in Birtley and employs over 80 people. Specialising in feasibility, project management, design and build, construction and maintenance, Meldrum is anticipating a turnover of £9million this year. The company has a flexible and ethical approach to work ensure that clients return time after time.
