The Blyth Marine Station was official opened by Her Grace The Duchess of Northumberland in November 2014.
The Project was a Light Gauge Steel frame structure with a combination of cedar boarding and facing brickwork to the outer skin finish. The structure incorporated powder coated aluminium windows and a single ply finished flat roof.
The internal design covered a workshop area, an aquarium, a meeting room, teaching area facilities and a drying roof for a total floor area of 335m2 .The contract was completed including external works in 22 working weeks. This took place in a live port environment and it was imperative that we were aware of this on site and kept constant communication with the client and surrounding areas of the port to ensure no disruption. Following a partnering value engineering exercise the contract was reduced significantly from its official tender of £490,000 to £440,000.
