Knaresborough's New Manager gets Keys and a New Company NameNorth Eastern Tyres and Exhausts

North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts has today made a triple announcement about the new flagship outlet in Knaresborough.

Not only has the construction company Meldrum Construction handed over the keys so the outlet can open, the general manager has been appointed, along with the unveiling of the new company name.

Richard Darcy, who is relocating to North Allerton with his family to take up the role will be at the helm of the outlet which will be the first of the company’s eight to carry the new name North Eastern Tyre and Autocare. The new name has been chosen to reflect the growing number of autocare services available from the company, which launched 36 years ago as a tyre garage in Cleveland.

North Eastern Tyres has invested a total of £2.3 million in the site, which is situated at St James’s Retail Park on the A658 in Knaresborough. The deal was worth a massive £1.5 million to the Birtley based Meldrum Construction, who delivered a quality build, within budget and timescale.

Richard, who has worked for the company for eight years, most recently as the retail manager at Middlesbrough, said:

“I now have in place a team of 15 which I will be looking to grow. We are open on time and in fantastic surroundings. The Meldrum team has constructed the ‘finest tyre, exhaust and autocare centre the north has ever seen’ on this one acre plot and in my role I will be taking the Knaresborough branch to a place where it will be held up as best practice for the rest of the company.

“The staff, the training, customer service and products will all be the best in their class – that mixed with our amazing facilities should make sure that our new customers return time after time.”

Along with top of the range equipment and 11 service bays offering all aspects of autocare, the whole family is catered for with an internet cafe, children’s play area, plasma TV and food/refreshments. Once open the outlet will also offer a courtesy car service.

Managing director of North Eastern Tyres, Gavin Marshall, said:

“This is an exciting week for us, seeing the final creation of the new outlet that Meldrum has delivered so professionally. Now we have the perfect manager in place in the form of Richard, and the branding on the outlet proudly displaying the new company name, we look forward to servicing the people from the surrounding area soon.”
